Reading Circles

We have absolutely loved reading our war themed novels in our Reading Circles groups.
It has motivated and inspired us all to read more.  We have recognised the importance of reading, the value and pleasure that can be gained in reading and how enjoyable it is to discuss and share our views about novels.
As a class we are keen to do reading circles again next term.

Primary Maths Challenge

This week the Primary 7 and primary 6's took part in the National Primary Maths Challenge.  There were 25 problem solving questions involved in the paper.  All pupils tried there very best and used all their strategies to solve each problem.
Well done to our pupils who recieved Gold, Silver and Bronze for their results.

Here is an example of one of the questions:
Marcia needs biscuits.  She eats one Gary Baldi biscuit every quarter of the hour, two every half past the hour, three every three-quarter past the hour and 4 at the start of each hour.
She works from 8.59am to 5.01pm.
How many biscuits does she eat each day?

Answer revealed at the bottom.

Cine Bus

We were privileged to have the opportunity to watch the amazing movie,  Lucky Break
at the Cine Bus this week.
It taught us about Disability Hate Crime and that we all have Rights.  It was very interesting and insightful.

PACE Paisley 2021

PACE visited our school to work with the P6's and P7's.
We created a production to promote the bid for Paisley to become the City of Culture in 2021.  We looked at the history of Paisley as well as all the wonderful features Paisley has to offer.

Road Race

Amazing effort by all participants of the P7 Road Race.
Lots of training took place before the main event.
We had to run 2K on the day.  Our sportsmanship and effort was impeccable.

Reading Circles

We have all chosen novels to read based on World War 1 and 2.
On a weekly basis we will be discussing our novels and establishing a deeper meaning and understanding to the stories.
Our main focus is to read for enjoyment and share our enjoyment with others that are reading the same novel.

The photos below show us talking about our chosen novels in groups.  It was very interesting to hear everyone's different views on what they thought the novel was about, based on the title and front cover.

A hugely successful first term in Primary 7

Wow! What a very busy first term we have had.
The highlights of our term have been:
  • Getting assigned our important Primary 7 Roles.  To achieve our roles we had to write letters to Mr Carlton to persuade him that we were the best candidates for the job and then go through the process of interview.  It was a nerve-wracking experience but a great experience to develop our life skills and prepare us for applying for college and jobs in our future.
  • We enjoyed working together in our Roald Dahl topic.
  • We loved taking part in the Great Auchenlodment Run and raising money for our school funds.
  • The highlight of the term was our Positive Behaviour reward treat.  We had an afternoon of discos, chilling and playing games with our peers.

This term we will be studying World War 2 and completing personal projects based on this.
We are also looking at various ways to raise money to help pay for our Residential Trip.
